A child's pain

The pain behind this picture is heart breaking. Seeing this you don't know what has happened. Is this child alive? Is he asleep and being carried by his brother or friend? The questions are endless and I would rather not know the truth. The pain behind the eyes of the awake child is almost as saddening as the other child. We don't know what these kids have been through. Do they still have their families? We don't know when they had their last meal, when they saw their family, when they told their parents they loved them. It is hard to look at a photograph and judge the situation. For all I know this could be a young girl tired out from carrying her sleeping brother, sitting next to her parents. It is hard to think that is the true situation when you know what is going on in Darfur. Look at the black and white photo. This kid probably suffered before finally dying of disease, malnutrition or maybe just being murdered by a soldier. This makes me wonder, what kind of a life could this child have had? He/she looks to be under 5 years old. For most of this child's life, he/she probably suffered. With the condition of most people living in Darfur, you can't say that any child has had a good fulfilling life. Think of this child's parents. How they feel knowing their child is dead. It is heart breaking to look at these and think of the pain and suffering they went through.
