Rape in Darfur

Rape is one of the biggest forms of genocide going on in Darfur. So many woman are scarred mentally and physically due to the Janjaweed militia who are coming in and raping hundreds of women. It should be known that mass rape can end a certain race. It leaves women unable to bear children and it leaves them full of pain. After being raped so horrifically some of these woman cannot walk. They are abducted and raped repeatedly until they are unable to live with themselves or deal with the pain so they commit suicide. Awareness is so important. Rape is not only a way of humiliating women and making them feel inferior, it keeps them from living the long life they deserve to live. I would consider this one of the most disgusting and cruel forms of torture. With the youngest found victim being four years old, it is amazing that someone can survive and share their story about this. I was reading an article earlier today titled “Rape is a way of life for Darfur's women” and I was astonished by the title. This shouldn't have to be. Women should feel safe walking down the street or going to the market with their children. They should not have to be scared for their lives at every second of every day. Women are so ashamed of their half Janjaweed children that they are abandoning them or even killing them. With all men in their tribes dead, the only way of having a child is being raped by a Janjaweed and that is out of the question.
